Chaos+Comrades

In 2019, I co-founded Chaos+Comrades, a multimedia publication for and by queer people of color. In one year, I helped grow our digital audience from zero to more than 100,000 unique monthly visitors.


Quartz

Freelance Video Editor (2018)

In 2018, Quartz re-launched its news app and I was hired to create and edit promotional videos for their social media.

Vietcetera

Contributing Editor (2021)

In 2021, I was brought into the Vietcetera International team where I commissioned, edited and wrote pieces for the largest publication geared towards the Vietnamese diaspora.

Kirkus

Contributing Writer (2021)

In 2021, I was asked to write a series of reviews for non-fiction novels that grappled with identity. Among others, I wrote reviews of Michelle Zauner’s “Crying in H-Mart” and Georgina Lawton’s “Raceless.”

Just a Preference

writer, director and producer (2019)

I produced and directed videos for a series called “Just a Preference” for Chaos+Comrades. The series explored ways in which marginalized people in the U.S. experience “otherness.” Clips from “Just a Preference” were used in an episode of the Trevor Noah show during the Black Lives Matter protests.

Writing Resident (2021)

In November 2021, I was invited to the Spruceton Inn’s Residency in Upstate New York along with other writers and artists.

Best Thesis Winner (2019)

In 2019, my thesis titled “Homosexuality with Chinese Characteristics: Queer Space and Gay Identity in Urban China” won the award for best overall thesis in my program.
